Ways you can help |
When new Slavic immigrant families arrive they can only bring two
suitcases each. These are opportunities for
you to partner with us to assist a family with some of the basics needed to begin life
over in a new country.
- Provide a Russian /
English Bible- Furnish a Russian/English Bible for a Slavic person learning
English to assist them with reading their Bible in English.
$30 each
- Provide children new
underwear & socks- Children need new underclothing and socks when they arrive.
- Provide shoes for a
family- Each family member only brings the shoes they are wearing when they arrive. Each
family member needs a pair of shoes for the winter and summer, work and Sunday. School age children need tennis shoes.
- Provide kitchen with eating utensils, cookware, dinnerware, glasses, mugs,
dishtowels & cloths- when these
families move into their apartment they need everything to begin their home.
- Feed a family
nonperishable snacks and stables to provide a family in their apartment when they
move.
- Provide a mop, broom,
and other home cleaning items Help a new family with needed products to clean their apartment before they move in.
- Provide
towels and washcloths (you never have enough) In the local donations we receive there is a shortage of towels. Currently
we have several families without towels and there are more families scheduled to arrive.
- Provide a scholarship
for a child to go to summer camp-Do
you remember being bored during the summer? Most
of the children arriving have never had the opportunity to attend a Christian summer camp. This is a wonderful opportunity for them to spend
time with Christian American children. (Sharing
the culture)
- Assist with dental
care for a child-For the past 4 years the Slavic Volunteer Team has sponsored a
Dinner in Eastern Europe and the proceeds are used to assist children without
Medicaid or dental insurance.
